Centenary of a veteran revolutionary marked

China on Wednesday held a symposium to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Peng Chong, a veteran communist revolutionist who died in 2010.

Zhang Dejiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, attended the symposium and met relatives of Peng Chong.

Peng was born in 1915 in east China's Fujian Province. He was alternate member of the ninth and tenth CPC Central Committee, and member of the 11th to 13th CPC Central Committee. He was a member of the Political Bureau of the 11th CPC Central Committee.

Peng also served as vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, and vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee. Endi
