Singapore stocks close 0.17 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 5.76 points, or 0.17 percent, to close at 3,419.02.

A total of 1.24 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 950.6 million Singapore dollars (693.7 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 240 to 167, while 522 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 3.13 points, or 0.09 percent, to close at 3,413.26 on Tuesday. Endi
