Tunisia's prime minister on Monday sacked a number of high-ranking security officials after 23 people, mostly foreign tourists, were killed during the lethal militant attack on Bardo Museum last Wednesday.
The fired officials include an intelligence brigade chief, the Tunis district police chief, the traffic police commander, a museum security chief and a commander for the capital's Sidi Bachir district, according to the premier's office.
An arrest warrant has been issued against one police officer who abandoned his post during the attack, local radio and media said.
The officer is to be interrogated as three gunmen managed to enter the museum building; while two were killed by security agents.
"All Tunisia is traumatized," Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi said after visiting Bardo Museum four days after the attack.
According to Essebsi, a third suspect, who was identified by security forces, is still on the run. "He won't go too far, because we are vigilant," the president said.
Though the deadly attack on Bardo Museum last Wednesday killed 23 people, including 20 foreign tourists, and injured 50 others, the museum will be reopened on Tuesday.
A march is to be held from the Bab Saadoun area in Tunis to the museum in Bardo to show support to Tunisians and to their economy. Endit
