China, Malta sign MOU on sport cooperation

Malta and China signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Friday to facilitate sports cooperation between the two countries.
According to the MOU, the two sides have agreed to encourage the regular exchange of coaches in certain sports, as well as exchanges and cooperation between specialists in the fields of competitive sports, sports for all, and sports science and medicine.
Malta has agreed to provide training facilities for Chinese athletes and teams preparing for sporting events in Europe and North Africa. The archipelago will also provide technical assistance to help China in the introduction and development of sports of Chinese origin including Wushu, or martial arts, Dragon Boat Racing and Wei Chi, or the game of go.
Both Malta and China are also keen to strengthen cooperation in fighting against doping and other unsportsmanlike behaviors.
On behalf of China and Malta respectively, visiting deputy director of the General Administration of Sport of China Feng Jianzhong and Malta's Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport, Chris Agius signed the MOU.
"Both Malta and China have its own advantages in the field of sports, we will cooperate with each other and increase the sports standard of both our two countries," Feng Jianzhong said.
Chris Agius believed the MOU "will lead to progress in different sports both in Malta and in China".
"We believe that the MOU has called for further good results, and will beneficial to both of our two countries in the field of sports," he said. Enditem
