Industrial parks, economic zones in Vietnam lure 122.5 bln USD in FDI

Industrial parks (IPs) and economic zones (EZs) in Vietnam have lured some 122.5 billion U.S. dollars of foreign direct investment (FDI) cumulatively as of the end of 2014.
About 295 IPs were established on a total area of 84,000 hectares, of which 212 are operating, while 83 others are under construction, the website of Vietnamese government quoted statistics from the Ministry of Planning and Investment as saying on Friday.
As of the end of 2014, there were 15 coastal EZs and 28 border EZs in Vietnam.
A total figure of 85.5 billion U.S. dollars in FDI was registered to pour into IPs during the period, of which 49 billion were disbursed, accounting for 57 percent.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese EZs have attracted 37 billion U.S. dollars of registered FDI, of which 3.5 billion U.S. dollars were disbursed, accounting for 36 percent.
In 2014 alone, IPs and EZs nationwide attracted 10.7 billion U. S. dollars in new FDI registration.
The IPs and EZs in Vietnam reported around 118 billion U.S. dollars in revenue in 2014, up 18 percent year-on-year, creating 2. 4 million jobs. Endi
