Majority of Filipinos upset with Aquino's explanations over operation

A nationwide survey results released on Thursday shows that 79 percent, or close to eight out of 10 Filipinos, believe that President Benigno S. Aquino III's explanations regarding the January 25 Mamasapano incident two months ago are inadequate.
A total of 44 Elite Philippine Police Special Action Force (SAF) commandos and 18 Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Islamist rebels were killed in a botched operation to seize terrorist bomb technicians.
The survey conducted by noted Philippine pollster Pulse Asia involved 1,200 respondents.
The results showed that 99 percent of the respondents were aware of the much reported incident in Mamasapano and only one percent said they had no knowledge about it prior to the survey.
Some 79 percent believed that the explanations of Aquino and his administration are inadequate with only 10 percent satisfied. Eleven percent said they were undecided.
Survey results also showed that 79 percent of Filipinos were unhappy with President's decision not to attend the arrival honors for the 44 fallen SAF members, with only 10 percent agreeing with Aquino for a net score of -69. Eleven percent were undecided.
The president attended the inauguration of a car manufacturing plant in Laguna at the same time that the arrival honors for the SAF 44 was being held at the Villamor Airbase.
Majority of the respondents across geographical areas (74 percent to 83 percent) and social standings (76 percent to 81 percent) did not agree with Aquino's absence. Endi
