Peace negotiators of the Myanmar government and ethnic armed groups discussed military affairs on the second day of their resumed peace talks in Yangon Wednesday, a press conference revealed.
Wednesday's talks between the government's Union Peace-Making Work Committee (UPWC) and the National Ceasefire Coordination Team (NCCT) of 16 ethnic armed groups specifically focused on the relocation of the armed group members and matters related to a joint monitoring committee on ceasefire.
During the talks, the two sides also sought political ways to stop the current clashes in Kokang region and Kachin state, and agreed to prevent such conflicts from happening again through an understanding-building process.
NCCT members called for the inclusion of the Kokang ethnic army, or Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), in the talks as the MNDAA is a member of the NCCT.
The formal seventh round of peace talks, which started on Tuesday and was preliminarily set for six days, would focus on eight remaining points out of 104 of the draft nationwide ceasefire accord left by the previous talks in a bid to push for its finalization.
The sixth round of talks, held in September last year, approved the fourth draft of the ceasefire agreement. Endi
