Serbia is going to get EU assistance of over 198 million Euros (210 million U.S. dollars) from the 2014 Instrument for Pre-Accession (IPA) package, Serbian National News Agency Tanjug reported Tuesday.
Michael Davenport, the head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, said Tuesday that the fund will mainly go to reconstruction of the May floods last year and to preventative measures, according to Tanjug.
The European Commission has decided to set aside over 60 million Euros from the Solidarity Fund to help Serbia recover from the devastating floods, and it is estimated that the grants for Serbia from the EU will reach 3 billion Euros since 2000, he noted.
It is reported by Tanjug that Davenport is confident of the accession talks between Serbia and the EU, saying that this year will see an important turning point. (1 euro = 1.06 U.S. dollars) Endit
