Xinhua, March 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

India tops in the list of countries when it comes to asking Facebook to restrict online contents, the social networking site has revealed in a global report.

In fact, Facebook blocked 5.832 pieces of content, including anti-religious posts and hate speech, on orders from the Indian government from July to December 2014, according to the report released Monday.

"We restricted access in India to content reported primarily by law enforcement agencies and the India Computer Emergency Response Team within the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, including anti-religious content and hate speech that could cause unrest and disharmony," it said.

Turkey comes second in the list with 3,624 number of pieces of restricted content, followed by Germany at 60, Russia at 55 and Pakistan at 54, the report said. Endi
