Tokyo shares end higher by break on gains overseas

Tokyo shares ended the morning session Tuesday higher with the Nikkei index hitting a nearly 15 years record, tracing overnight gains in U.S. and European markets.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 165.51 points, or 0. 86 percent, higher from Monday to 19,411.57, after hitting 19,428. 52, its highest intraday level since April 2000.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 10.59 points, or 0.68 percent, to 1, 568.80. Endi
