Tokyo shares open higher following overnight U.S. gains

Tokyo shares opened higher on Tuesday, tracing overnight gains in the U.S. stocks market.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 146.22 points, or 0.76 percent, from Monday at 19,392.28.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 8.76 points, or 0.56 percent, to 1,566. 97. Endi
