Mogherini, Zarif discuss Iran nuclear issue

Xinhua, March 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini on Monday said her talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will contribute to advancing the process on Iran nuclear deal.

As part of the ongoing EU+3 nuclear negotiations with Iran, Mogherini hosted a meeting Monday with Foreign Ministers of Germany, France, Britain and Zarif in Brussels.

After the meeting, Mogherini and the three European Foreign Ministers stressed their determination to work towards reaching agreement with Iran on a solution that would address all concerns of the international community on the exclusively peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program, according to an EU press release.

Mogherini said: "This was a useful meeting and I am confident it will contribute to advancing the process in the coming days and weeks."

Zarif will then return to Lausanne of Switzerland for further talks with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, which EU Political Director, deputy foreign policy chief Helga Schmid will join.

EU+3 Political Directors will continue negotiations with Iran later this week, the press release said. Endit
