Reguigui wins Malaysia's Tour de Langkawi cycling race

Xinhua, March 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

Algerian rider Youcef Reguigui from team MTN Qhubeka won the title of the 20th Tour de Langkawi cycling race on Sunday, despite finishing 10th in the eighth and final stage.

Reguigui, 25, finished on the same overall time as stage winner Andrea Guardini from Astana Pro Team, but was declared the champion based on his total time and points collected during the race.

Both riders finished the final stage in 28 hours 12 minutes 4 seconds after Guardini on Sunday in the 96.1-kilometer route from Kuala Kubu Bharu to the capital Kuala Lumpur in 2 hours 27seconds.

Reguigui is the third African rider to win the event's overall title after South Africans Ryan Cox in 2005 and David George in 2006. Endi
