Danish police bust largest doping ever

Xinhua, March 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

Danish police have arrested two men and confiscated more than one tonne of steroids in what they say was "the biggest doping bust" in the country's history, local media reported Friday.

The two men, 40 and 25 respectively, were caught by police on Thursday following a series of raids at several locations in Zealand, where the capital Copenhagen is located, according to the local newspaper Politiken.

The duo were accused of producing and distributing anabolic steroids and they face up to six years in prison each.

"We have found so much that we can not possibly add it all up at this moment," Copenhagen police commissioner Steffen Steffensen was quoted by the newspaper as saying. "It is obviously the largest organised doping crime in Danish history."

Last year, the Parliament raised the maximum penalties in doping cases from two to six years and allowed police to use wiretaps to investigate doping cases, the newspaper reported. Endit
