Turke, Hungary discuss diversification of energy resources

Xinhua, March 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

Visiting Hungarian President Janos Ader discussed Thursday with his Turkish counterpart on diversification of energy resources for both countries, according to a joint press conference in Ankara.

Energy projects should focus on economic interests while avoiding political concerns, the Hungarian president said, stressing significance of energy resources for the region.

"We want no bureaucratic obstacle or political background on this issue. We want to work merely to pursue economic interests for the two countries," Janos Ader said at the joint press conference with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The two presidents have discussed ways to enhance economy and trade ties, as all conditions are available to boost the bilateral relations, the Hungarian president noted.

The Turkish president, for his part, said they have discussed energy issues including Turkish Stream, a Russian proposal of natural gas pipeline from Russia to Turkey, and the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), a project of natural gas transportation from Azerbaijan through Turkey and up to Europe.

Also, Erdogan thanked the Hungarian leader for the political cooperation his country gave Turkey on European Union membership bid of Ankara.

Arriving here on Wednesday, President Ader will also meet with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek in his three-day official visit, and attend ceremonies in Ankara for the Hungary's 1848-1849 independence revolution. Endit
