-- In a debt dispute with Germany, the Greek Minister of Justice Paraskevopoulos threatened the confiscation of German assets in Greece. The German government firmly rejected all claims. "The question of reparations and compensation is completed legally and politically," said German government spokesman Steffen Seibert on Wednesday in Berlin.

-- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved its new aid package of 17.5 billion U.S. dollars for Ukraine, announced IMF chief Christine Lagarde on Wednesday. The four-year extended arrangement should support Ukraine's immediate economic stabilization.

-- German Chancellor Angela Merkel will not take part in the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II on May 9 in Moscow, announced German government spokesman Steffen Seibert on Wednesday. But Merkel proposed to lay a wreath at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow one day later. Putin has agreed to Merkel's proposal, according to Seibert. Endit
