"My wife is a cheater" arson suspect held on bond in U.S.

Xinhua, March 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

A judge set bond at 50,000 U.S. dollars Wednesday for a Colorado man accused of blowing up and burning his house to the ground after spray-painting the words "my wife is a cheater" in huge letters on the front of the house.

William Lindauer, 31, is being held in Jefferson County jail on first-degree arson and other related charges, and was heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident, according to police records.

Lindauer was spotted by a neighbor fleeing his home on a bicycle shortly after a massive explosion at 1:30 a.m. (0730 GMT) Tuesday morning sent parts of the house flying into the street.

He was later arrested by police without incident in Arvada, a suburb north of Denver.

Several fire companies responded to the ensuing blaze, which is still under investigation.

County Court Judge Mark Randall ordered Lindauer Wednesday to have no contact with his wife, their three children, and another man, whose name, withheld by police, was also spray-painted in large letters on a wall of the house.

No one was injured and no one was inside the property at the time. The destroyed house was worth about 209,000 U.S. dollars, according to real estate records.

Lindauer's wife, Bre, and three children left the home two weeks ago after Lindauer had been drinking and punching holes in the walls of their home, and she had found a gun and cash missing, according to her statement, reported by 9News.

Bre Lindauer denied she was a "cheater", saying her husband was taking anti-anxiety medication and thought she was having an affair with a friend on Facebook, because the male friend had "liked" her postings. Endi
