Racist behaviors of young Americans are discouraging and embarrassing, a group of Miami University students said here Tuesday.
Paying a visit to the Rosa Parks Library, students from Miami University told Xinhua that there has been progress made on civil rights and racial equality, but "there is definitely room for improvement".
Commenting on the recent University of Oklahoma students racism video, Simar Puri said, "This is very discouraging, to me, it is kind of embarrassing, 'cause those are the college students just like me."
A 10-second video, posted online on Sunday, showed members of a fraternity singing a song filled with racial epithets. The video was shot on a bus chartered for a date night by students from the University of Oklahoma.
The University of Oklahoma has expelled two students linked to the incident, the school's president David Boren said Tuesday.
The two students were "identified as playing a leadership role in the singing of a racist chant" connected to a Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity event, Boren said in a statement posted on Twitter.
"There is zero tolerance for this kind of threatening racist behavior at the University of Oklahoma," he wrote. The school said the actions of those involved were "disgraceful."
The incident spotlighted racial problems once again in the United States.
