Tokyo stocks open slightly lower on Wall Street losses

Tokyo stocks opened slightly lower in early trading Wednesday following overnight losses on Wall Street.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 12.20 points, or 0.07 percent, from Tuesday to 18,652.91. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange shed 3.10 points, or 0.20 percent, to 1,521.65.

Major declining industry groups included oil and coal, mining and nonferrous metal. Endi
