Croatian export grows 8.7 pct year-on-year in 2014

Croatian export grew 8.7 percent in 2014 compared with 2013, reaching 78.9 billion kunas (11.1 billion U.S. dollars), according to figures released by the national statistical office (DZS) on Tuesday.

Figures also showed the import reached 130.4 billion kunas (18.4 billion dollars), representing a 4.3 percent increase of that in 2013.

Foreign trade deficit amounted to 51.5 billion kunas (7.27 billion dollars), 1.8 percent smaller than that in 2013, it said.

However, the country's export in January 2015 showed a fall of 7.24 percent, compared with the same period of last year. This is the first fall since Croatia joined the European Union (EU) in July 2013, DZS said.

At the same time, Croatia's imports in Jan 2015 declined 15.78 percent compared with January 2014. Endit
