2nd LD-Writethru: Jail riot kills 3, wounds 22 in N. Afghanistan

Three people were killed and 22 others injured as prisoners made uprising in a prison in Jauzjan provincial capital Shiberghan 390 km north of Kabul on Sunday, provincial police chief, Faqir Mohammad Jauzjani said.

"The clash erupted at 09:00 a.m. local time in Shiberghan central jail between prisoners and warders, which has left three people including two police and a prisoner dead and 22 others including 16 detainees and six police injured," Jauzjani told reporters here.

Those detainees involved in the bloody riot are Taliban loyalists, the provincial police chief said, adding the situation has been brought under control. Endi
