British FTSE 100 closes lower on Friday

FTSE 100 Index, the British benchmark stock market gauge, Friday decreased by 0.71 percent, or 49.34 points, to 6,911.80 points.

Weir Group's share price increased by 4.26 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips. ITV, Hargreaves Lansdown, Sports Direct International and London Stock Exchange Group increased by 2.28 percent, 1.65 percent, 1.49 percent and 1.33 percent respectively.

Randgold Resources led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 5.27 percent, followed by Fresnillo (5.16 percent), Intu Properties (3.92 percent), Hammerson (2.98 percent) and Vodafone Group (2.81 percent).

The index has gained 6.08 percent so far this year when measured in U.S. dollar. Endit
