The European Union tightened sanctions against the Syrian government and its supporters as the situation in Syria "continues to deteriorate," according to a press release issued by the Council of the European Union here on Friday.
The Council added seven people and six entities to its list of those providing support to the Syrian government. The unnamed supporters were targeted with a travel ban and had their EU assets frozen. The measure brings the number of persons and entities targeted by EU sanctions to 218 and 69 respectively.
The legal decision, including the full details of those targeted by the restrictions, are to be made available on March 7 in the Official Journal of the European Union. Endit
