Seven killed in bus-train collision near Cairo

Xinhua, March 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

A collision between a train and a school bus near Egypt's capital Friday killed seven people and injured 24 more others, state-run MENA news agency reported.

The accident took place when a train crashed a school bus carrying children near Egypt-Ismailia desert highway, some 50 kilometers northeast of Cairo.

The bus was hit by a cargo train while crossing the railway tracks, state-run Ahram online website reported.

Some of the victims were children, according to Ahram online.

Experts blame lack of maintenance and the poor condition of the railway network for the frequent accidents. Endit
