French trade deficit widens to 3.37 bln euros in Jan.

Xinhua, March 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

Sluggish exports, mainly of aeronautic sales, drove France's trade deficit higher to 3.37 billion euros (3.70 billion U.S. dollars) in January from a month earlier, customs figures showed on Friday.

In a monthly report, French customs said French trade gap widened by 430 million euros in January 2015, due to sharp decrease in Airbus sales and feeble pharmaceutical exports.

The country's total sales abroad stood at 36.8 billion euros, losing 2.5 percent after they had registered positive trend in December 2014, while the value of imports totaled 40.6 billion euros, down by 1.3 percent.

At the end of January, aero group Airbus garnered 1.73 billion euros after selling 23 aircraft versus 36 worth 2.96 billion euros a month earlier. Endit
