Xinhua, March 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi is to address members of the Parliament of Mauritius on March 12, the country's Day of Independence.

Parliament of Mauritius will have a special session on the national day to mark its 47th anniversary of independence.

The motion was proposed in Parliament on Tuesday by Prime Minister of Mauritius, Anerood Jugnauth, who called Modi "one of the most important political figures in the world."

Modin is expected to arrive on March 11 for a two-day visit. Mauritius will therefore be the second state to welcome the Indian Prime minister since he took office.

Mauritius is comprised of a majority of hindu community and has had good economic and cultural ties with India. Endi
