Insider attack claimed the lives of two police in the southern Uruzgan province on Thursday, police said.

"Three personnel of local police opened fire on their colleagues in a checkpoint in Sarsini Kotal area of Charchino district at around 06:00 a.m. local time today and, after killing two local police personnel, made their good escape and joined the anti-government militants," Deputy to District Police Chief Nematullah Roshan told Xinhua.

Local police is community police force composed of villagers, established couple of years ago to ensure security in the countryside where Taliban militants create security problems.

Roshan also added that investigation has been initiated into the case.

Insider attacks obviously conducted by Taliban loyalists penetrated into security forces have claimed several lives in the past years. Endi
