Ireland's jobless rate falls to 10.1 pct in Feb.

Xinhua, March 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ireland's jobless rate stands at 10.1 percent in February, down from a crisis peak of 15.1 percent in early 2012, according to official figures released on Wednesday.

The figures from the Central Statistics Office showed that the number of people signing on the Live Register in February fell by 4,300 to stand at 355,600 on a seasonally adjusted basis.

The Live Register in Ireland is used to provide monthly data on the number of people registering for unemployment assistance.

Commenting on Wednesday's figures, Irish economist Philip O'Sullivan said these figures reflect the improving trends in the jobs market.

These figures indicated total employment in Ireland has now increased for nine successive quarters and that this momentum has been sustained into this year, he said. Endit
