Tokyo shares end lower by midday on profit-taking

Tokyo shares ended the morning session lower Wednesday on a sentiment of profit-taking, following overnight declines in the U.S market.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 145.13 points, or 0.77 percent, from Tuesday to 18,670.03.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 12.08 points, or 0.79 percent, to 1, 514.75. Endi
