Tokyo shares end lower by break on profit-taking

Tokyo shares erased gains in the morning session and ended slightly lower by break Tuesday following investors' trend to cash in gains after recent rallies.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 40.20 points, or 0.21 percent, from Monday to 18,786.68.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 3.13 points, or 0.21 percent, to 1, 521.84. Endi
