Suspect referred to UAE court for killing American woman

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) attorney general Salem Kubaish said Sunday that the suspected killer of an American woman has been referred to the UAE federal supreme court, state news agency WAM reported.

Alaa Bader Abdullah, the suspect, is accused of killing a U.S. citizen on Dec. 1, 2014. Ibolya Ryan, a 47-year old woman was stabbed to death in a bathroom at Boutik Mall on Abu Dhabi's Reem Island.

Abdullah is also accused of planting a crude explosive device, which failed to explode, in a resident building on Abu Dhabi Corniche.

The UAE authorities said the killing was a "personal act of terror," and not linked to any domestic or foreign terror network.

It remains unknow the exact date for the trial. Endit
