Benfica slams Estoril 6-0 in Portuguese league

Benfica slammed Estoril 6-0 on Saturday in the 23rd round of the Portuguese league at the Luz Stadium in capital Lisbon.

It was Benfica's biggest rout this season and its second biggest rout in history under coach Jorge Jesus.

Brazilian defender Luisao opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a header and Argentine midfielder Eduardo Salvio scored in the 26th.

Pizzi scored in the 33rd and Brazilian forward Jonas two minutes later following a cross by Uruguayan defender Maxi Pereira.

Brazilian forward Lima scored a penalty shot just 11 minutes after half-time and Jonas added another in the 86th to close the scoring.

Benfica stands at the top of the Portuguese league with 59 points, seven points ahead of Porto. Estoril stands 12th with 25 points. Endt
