Over 1,700 teachers, experts from 33 countries gather in Cambodia for English teaching conference

More than 1,700 teachers and experts from 33 countries around the world took part in a two-day conference on English Language Teaching (ELT) here on Saturday, Cambodian Education Minister Hang Chuon Naron said.
Speaking at the opening of the conference held at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, the minister said the event provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and dissemination of information on good practices within ELT.
"It is also a platform to strengthen and broaden the network of ELT teachers and all those involved in the ELT sector in Cambodia and the world," he said.
He said Cambodia has seen remarkable rise in using English language among its population.
"The ministry strongly supports professional development opportunities to empower English teachers so that they can teach English at international standard," he said.
According to a press release from organizer IDP (International Development Program) Education-Cambodia, speakers from universities in Singapore, the United States, Australia, Indonesia, and Malaysia will share their experiences and expertise on the topic at the event.
In addition, 35 local and international exhibitors will also be showcasing the best in ELT resources, materials, associations, institutions and services at the conference.
It is the 11th year that the Southeast Asian country organizes the event. Endi
