IMF likely to lower growth prediction for Albania: official

Xinhua, February 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

The International Monetary Fund(IMF) will likely lower its forcast for Albania's economic growth this year, which is set at 3 percent currently, local media reported on Friday.

Jens Reinke, the head of the IMF in Albania, said external factors, such as the oil price drop and the problems in the Eurozone, especially Greece, might shrink remittances and even exports in country, Albanian Daily News reported.

Despite the negative effects, the economy is still growing, Reinke was quoted as saying.

IMF believes the increased external risks might get balanced by the growth of the internal trust. According to Reinke, the government needs to continue the reforms, and address the internal risks, such as the property bill.

According to Albanian Daily News, another economic problem for Albania is bad loans. Enditem
