Residents send best wishes to Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew

Xinhua, February 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

Singapore's former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew was absent at his constituency's annual Chinese New Year celebration dinner on Thursday, and residents there sent their best wishes.

Residents of Tanjong Pagar Group Representation Constituency ( GRC) penned wishes for a speedy recovery for the founding prime minister on a six-meter-long banner while they attended the dinner.

Speaking to 1,500 residents from the area, Singapore's Social and Family Development Minister Chan Chun Sing said the younger generation of grassroot leaders must continue to care for the residents as a tribute to the prime minister.

Lee is still in hospital after being warded on Feb. 5 for severe pneumonia, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office.

It is not the first time Lee has missed his constituency's Chinese New Year dinner celebrations. He was also hospitalized last year, for an infection. Endi
