German Rohr appointed coach of Burkina Faso

Xinhua, February 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

French-German Gernot Rohr is appointed the head coach of Burkina Faso football team "Les Etalons" after former mangaer Paul Put was fired for "disappointing results", Burkina Faso football federation (FBF) announced on Wednesday.

According to FBF, Rohr was chosen following a selection procedure on a short-list which also includes Nigerian Stephen Keshi and Serbian Milovan Rajevac.

In 2015, Burkina Faso did not pass the first round of the 30th edition of African Cup of Nations finals in Equatorial Guinea with two defeats and one draw in the group stage.

They came last of the 16 teams in the tournament, a far cry from their runners-up finish of the 2013 African Cup of Nations tournament that took place in South Africa.

Sita Sangare, the FBF president said in an interview that "Les Etalons" need a "hefty" coach to resurrect. Endi
