Land Saigon's 12-member cycling team will begin its seven-day, 1,000km-long journey from here to Bangkok on March 6, local media reported on Thursday.

According to Vo Huu Thien, founder of Land Saigon which is a Ho Chi Minh City-based real estate share holding company, the group will become the first Vietnamese tourist group to cycle to Thailand, Vietnam News daily reported.

As scheduled, the amateur cyclists will pass through Neak Luong, Phnom Penh, Pursat, Sisophon in Cambodia, and then to Sa Kaeo and Nakornayok before reaching Bangkok in Thailand, where the Tourism Authority of Thailand will award the team with a certificate.

The journey was set up five years ago, and the 1,000km route is truly a challenge to every member, including the eldest 75-year-old Tran Tam Quang, who had ranked fourth in the men's track cycling event during the 1966 Asian Games in Bangkok, said the team founder. Endi
