2 militants killed, 4 troops wounded in Kashmir gunfight

Two militants were killed and four Indian military troops wounded on Wednesday in a fierce gunfight in the restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said.

The gunfight between militants and Indian troops broke out Tuesday evening in Heff-Shirmal village of Shopian district, 62 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

"In an overnight gunfight in Shopian, two militants were killed, " Lt. Col. N. N. Joshi, Indian military spokesman in Srinagar said.

"Four military personnel including an officer suffered wounds while fighting these militants."

The wounded were immediately removed to a military base hospital in Srinagar for treatment. Endi
