The Tokyo District Court on Wednesday ruled against a group of Chongqing bombing survivors who sued the Japanese government and asked for apology and compensation.

Prior to the rule, representatives of the 188-accuser group took a small rally in the Hibiya Park in downtown Tokyo, holding banners saying "cherish peace and against the war."(Japan- Chongqing bombing)

COLOMBO -- Jeffrey Feltman, the United Nations Under-Secretary- General for Political Affairs will be visiting Sri Lanka on Saturday, the office announced in a short statement on Wednesday.

Feltman plans to meet with senior officials of the government of Sri Lanka, political parties and civil society groups.(Sri Lanka-U.N. visit)

KABUL -- Heavy snowfall and avalanches have claimed the lives of 73 people across Afghanistan over the past two days, Mohammad Daem Kakar, head of the Natural Disaster Management Authority ( NDMA) said on Wednesday.

The snowfall started on Monday and remains in regions including the capital city Kabul.(Afghanistan-Avalanches)

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan's intelligence chief on Wednesday began an official visit to the United States for security talks, the military said.

It is the first visit of Lt. Gen. Rizwan Akhtar to Washington since he assumed office in November.(Pakistan-Intelligence chief) Endi
