A new initiative to enhance youth employment in Albania through training and labor market orientation was launched Tuesday in Tirana.

This is the latest initiative launched by the Ministry of Social Welfare with the aim of enhancing employment opportunities for young people in Albania's rural and urban areas.

Vocal education and training has recently gained particular attention as a reliable alternative to increase job opportunities for the young people as a valuable asset in the society for the development of the country.

Social Welfare Minister Erion Veliaj emphasized the importance of the vocational training and labor market orientation policies, adding that the way how vocational training is perceived has now changed.

Veliaj said that in order to meet the increasing demand for vocational education the employment offices and agencies across the country have developed a modern system with the help of Germany. He added that the participation in the vocational education has increased up to 40 percent.

A joint study by Albania's Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) shows that 33.5 percent of Albanian young people aged 15-29 are unemployed in 2014. Endit
