The benchmark BSE Sensex opened at 29,316.58, 85.17 points or 0. 29 percent up from the previous close of 29,231.41 points.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed 0.73 percent higher Monday as investor sentiment was lifted by the eurozone's agreement of an extension of financial aid to Greece.
The 225-issue Nikkei index was up 134.62 points, or 0.73 percent, from Friday at 18,466.92, the highest closing level since April, 2000.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher on Monday.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 6. 94 points, or 0.35 percent, to 1,968.39 at the close. Trading volume stood at 334.14 million shares worth 4.04 trillion won (3. 64 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market closed 0.5 percent higher on Monday after gains from the financial sector.
At the official market close, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was up 26.5 points, or 0.45 percent, at 5,908 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index had gained 26.8 points, or 0.46 percent, at 5,872.4.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed higher on Monday.
