Benfica beats Moreirense 3-1

Benfica beat Moreirense 3-1 on Saturday in the 22nd round of the Portuguese league, at the Comendador Joaquim Almeida Freitas Stadium in Braga, north Portugal.

Moreirense forward Joao Pedro opened the scoring in the 35th minute with a powerful effort on the edge of the box.

Benfica dominated the match in the first half but wasted numerous scoring chances, while Moreirense played well defensively.

Moreirense was less organized in the second half, especially after Andre Simoes was handed a red card in the 60th minute.

Benfica defender Luisao equalized in the 58th minute with a header and Eliseu scored in the 65th with a right footed effort.

Brazilian forward Jonas added another in the 72nd to close the scoring.

Benfica stands at the top of the Portuguese league with 56 points while Moreirense is 11th with 25. Enditem
