The following are major news items in leading German newspapers on Saturday.

Die Welt:

-- German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande urgently appealed to Moscow and Kiev to implement all peace agreements for Ukraine in respect of latest fights. They also threatened with new sanctions for further breach of the Minsk Agreement after a meeting in Paris.

Sueddeutsche Zeitung:

-- A so-called KIM-2014 study conducted by the Research Association for Media Education Southwest showed that smartphones are now used by ever-younger children, especially those mobile phones that offer apps and Internet access.

The proportion of children between the ages of six and 13 who have a smartphone has increased in the last two years by seven to 25 percent. It is risky without clear rules of the parents, said the study.
