Portugal international Vieirinha penned a contract extension with Wolfsburg, the "Wolves" confirmed on the club's official website on Friday.

After the 2-0 victory against Sporting at the first leg of the last 32 in the UEFA Europa League, Wolfsburg came up with another good news as winger Adelino Andre Vieira de Freitas, who is commonly known as Vieirinha, extended his commitment until June 2018.

"I am very glad that we were able to bind with Vieirinha, an important player of our team. He feels comfortable here and he appreciates that we stood by him in difficult situations in the past," Wolfsburg manager Klaus Allofs said.

Vieirinha came to the "Wolves" in the winter break 2011-2012 from Greek side PAOK FC. Since his arrival in Germany's top flight, he has scored three goals in 64 appearances.

"I decided to stay in Wolfsburg because it is a great project and I'm happy to be a part of it," the Portuguese international said.

Wolfsburg occupy the second place in the table, 12 points adrift of front-runners and German record champions Bayern Munich. Endi
