Indian navy chief to visit Bangladesh

Indian navy chief Admiral RK Dhowan will pay "a goodwill visit" to Bangladesh from Feb. 22 to 26 at the invitation of the Chief of Naval Staff of Bangladesh Navy Vice Admiral M Farid Habib, a statement said on Friday.

According to the statement issued by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, he will be accompanied by his spouse Minu Dhowan, president of Indian Navy Wives Welfare Association.

To coincide with the visit, Indian Navy ship, The INS Ranjit, will pay a goodwill visit to Bangladesh's Chittagong Port.

During his visit, the Indian navy chief will present two Enterprise Class boats to the Bangladesh Naval Academy in Chittagong, some 242 km southeast of Dhaka.

Admiral RK Dhowan's visit is part of the tradition of regular high level exchanges between the armed forces of both the countries and will enhance friendship and cooperation between the two neighboring navies, said the statement. Endi
