British FTSE 100 slips slightly on Thursday

FTSE 100 Index, the British benchmark stock market gauge, Thursday closed lower by 9.18 points, or 0.13 percent, to 6,888.90 points.

Britain-based energy supplier Centrica led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 8.54 percent, followed by Babcock International Group (5.68 percent), Anglo American (2.86 percent), Tullow Oil (2.66 percent) and BG Group (2.58 percent).

Rolls-Royce Holdings' share price increased by 2.94 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips. Prices of easyJet, Dixons Carphone, Associated British Foods and National Grid advanced by 2.12 percent, 1.99 percent, 1.97 percent and 1.96 percent respectively.

Trading in FTSE 100 companies was around 15 percent below the 30-day average. And the index has gained 5.43 percent so far this year in U.S. dollar term. Endit
