British FTSE 100 closes flat on Wednesday

FTSE 100 Index, the British benchmark stock market gauge, Wednesday closed flat at 6,898.08 points, nearing its all-time high of 6,930.20 points in late December 1999.

Hargreaves Lansdown' share price increased by 3.44 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips.

Prices of Ashtead Group, Royal Bank of Scotland, ARM Holdings and Aggreko advanced by 2.87 percent, 2.59 percent, 2.52 percent and 2.31 percent respectively.

Intu Properties led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 3.27 percent, followed by Coco-Cola HBC (3.05 percent), Hammerson (2.63 percent), Vodafone Group (2.51 percent) and British Land (2.23 percent).

Trading in FTSE 100 companies was around 20 percent below the 30-day average. And the index has gained 5.39 percent so far this year in U.S. dollar term. Endit
