Xinhua, February 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong met Wednesday with his visiting Finnish counterpart Erkki Tuomioja to discuss ways to promote bilateral ties and regional cooperation for mutual benefits.

Speaking at a joint press briefing after the meeting, Hor Namhong said it was a fruitful discussion in strengthening and expanding bilateral relations and cooperation in all fields.

"I also briefed Tuomioja about Cambodia's current political, social and economic situation," he said.

He also expressed gratitude to Finland for assisting Cambodia in land title registrations and mine clearance.

For his part, Tuomioja said Finland and Cambodia have enjoyed niceties for decades and added that Finland is looking forward to further enhancing relations and cooperation with Cambodia for mutual interests.

He hailed Cambodia for its rapid socio-economic development and acknowledged Cambodia's progress in democracy and human rights.

The two ministers also exchanged views on the conflict in Ukraine and the Islamic State terrorist group.

Tuomioja, who visits Cambodia for the first time, will pay a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Wednesday afternoon. Endi
