Poland to increase defense expenditures since 2016

Xinhua, February 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz informed on Tuesday that Poland intended to increase its defense expenditures by no less than 2 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP).

The additional spending is to be used in the development of new technologies for the army.

During the press conference, Kopacz announced that the money used would help to implement more modern technologies for the improved innovation of the Polish army, with the bulk of the investments going toward the Polish arms industry, creating the residual effect of generating more jobs in the country.

Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of National Defense, Tomasz Siemoniak said the increased spending on defense was one of the most crucial points announced in the Polish prime minister's policy statement.

The expenditures increase project will next be handed over to the Sejm, the lower house of the Polish Parliament. Enditem
