2nd LD: 4 killed, 16 injured as blast hits Pakistan's Lahore

Xinhua, February 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least four persons were killed and 16 others injured on Tuesday afternoon as a bomb blast hit Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore, local media reported.

According to the reports, the incident took place at 12:35 p.m. local time outside a police center in the downtown Qilla Gujjar Singh area of the city, killing four people and injuring several others.

Police, security and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to the Mayo Hospital and Ganga Ram Hospital of the city.

The death toll may further rise as many of the injured were in critical condition in the hospitals, hospital sources said.

The blast took place in a car that was parked outside the Police Lines, a police center used for training.

An eyewitness said a person ran towards a restaurant near the main gate of the police center and then the blast took place.

Police officials said that the blast was conducted with explosives material, however they have not confirmed whether it was a planted or a suicide bomb attack.

The intensity of the explosion was so high that it was heard miles away from the site. Window panes of the nearby buildings were smashed and many vehicles parked nearby the blast site also caught fire.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. Endi
